About Us
Georgia Game Changers is more than a running shoe store. We are Coastal Georgia’s only physical therapist-owned Natural Running shoe store. Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of runners, walkers and Cross Fitters, and Functional Trainers in the local area and surrounding counties.
Like our name, Georgia Game Changers intends to be just that –a Coastal Georgia Game Changer. As a natural running-focused store, our goal is to be an active part of transforming the area residents’ mindset about fitness, health, and running.
As a physical-therapist owned business, we plan to offer a uniquely targeted array of products, as well as offer multiple education-based programs and clinics designed to help “move” the local population to a new level of fitness. Our store motto, “transforming your fit–step by step” says it all.
We are a neighborhood store conveniently located in a busy shopping plaza off of Ford Avenue in Richmond Hill, yet only one-quarter mile east of 1-95 with easy access from other local communities. Our hope is that the members of our “neighborhood” will come check out our store with an open mind, willing to try out not only our shoes, but hear our philosophy on fitness, running, and injury prevention. Furthermore, we love to get our customers’ feedback about the products they would like to see in their neighborhood.
Who We Are
Sandra Elliott, CEO
Physical Therapist, Retired US Army Officer, Educator
Sandra is a triplet Mom, and physical therapist, who recently left Government Service to pursue her dream of helping others and making a difference in their lives, by providing a unique and education-focused running and fitness store. She retired from the US Army in 2006, pursued her Masters in Education, and then returned to Department of the Army as a physical therapist in 2009, where she served overseas and most recently at Fort Stewart.
Sandra became interested in Natural Running, once she discovered she could indeed run (prior back surgery and knee problems previously prevented her from doing so), using the Vibram FiveFinger shoes. Sandra was intrigued by the growing body of research in the literature that is now demonstrating the benefit of focusing on both running form and footwear.
A survey of soldiers revealed that more people were trying out shoes of a more minimalist structure, and that there were many questions about how to use them properly. She and her husband Ron decided that they could help others learn how to transform or to improve their running form if they could provide both the location that offered the shoes as well as an opportunity to learn about natural running.
After months of planning and preparation, the store opened in doors in late July 2012. Sandra loves to run in her neighborhood, and in local races (5K). She won a First Female Finisher medal early in 2012, and she is currently working on longer races, and hopes to complete a 10K by the end of 2012, and then a half-marathon in 2013. Her favorite race: The Savannah Bridge Run.
Ron Elliott, CFO
Public Affairs Director, Retired US Army Officer
Ron, always a fast and competitive runner, is the “numbers” guy on the Game Changers team. Ron holds his MBA, as in addition to his numerous communications degrees and certifications. He has served as a Communications and Media Specialist in the Army, in and out of uniform for over 30 years.
Ron is also an expert photographer, and you can usually find Ron at local races, and high school cross-country or track meets, snapping hundreds of pictures to share with runners. A very competitive runner, Ron loves to run fast, challenging the triplets (now 15 years old) to racing competitions since they were very young. Ron loves being at the store, helping customers to find the perfect “fit” and by encouraging customers to share their running and fitness stories.
Favorite race: Alive in Savannah, New Year’s Celebration
