A short music video created by Two Rivers Treads kicked off Newton Running’s Special Event on Monday August 8 at the historic Boulder Theater in Boulder, Colorado. Before an invited crowd of 300 runners, company executives, specialty running retailers, and past running greats such as Olympic Gold Medalist Frank Shorter and World Champion Zola Budd, all eyes were focused on Shepherdstown, West Virginia, where Two Rivers Treads is located and where I live with my family. The music for our natural running video, “Small Town with a Large Foot Print,” was written and produced by endurance guru Phil Maffetone, who is also an accomplished songwriter and musician. Special thanks are also in order for all the local runners in our community who, despite the sweltering heat, showed up to be part of the impromptu fun run. Many brought their kids. And further thanks to the police and town of Shepherdstown for allowing all this to happen. While I’m beginning to sound like I’m making an acceptance speech at a film awards ceremony, this video couldn’t have happened without local filmmaker Thad Reid (now based in L.A.) for his creativity and rapid-fire skill who shot everything in one take and without a script. That’s natural talent! And please check out the new “Run Shepherd” blog for Two Rivers Treads. You will meet some of the people in the video!
Final note: watch the video full-screen on your computer monitor by clicking on the small tab at the bottom right corner of the video window.
Congratulations on the inspiring video, Mark! Makes me want to get up and go for a run in my Newtons.
